In this interactive, hands-on woodworking class, you'll learn essential skills by transforming raw wood into a beautifully refined chopping block, gaining practical experience with a variety of tools and machinery. You'll start by cleaning and squaring rough hardwood using a thickness planer and panel saw, then glue and laminate individual boards to form a cohesive block. After the glue sets, you'll use the thickness planer to smooth the glued boards and square up the edges with the panel saw. Finally, you'll achieve a smooth, polished finish by sanding the block to a 320-grit smoothness with an orbital sander. By the end of the class, you'll have the confidence to tackle your own woodworking projects, safely using industrial equipment such as the panel saw and planer, and you'll leave with a professional-quality chopping block of your own creation.
